The Limpet Anti-Theft Alarm is a unique security device which will protect valuable electrical equipment such as computers, TV/Video, scanners, monitoring equipment etc from theft. It is seen as being of particular use in places with virtually unrestricted public access such as Schools, Hospitals and Libraries where a determined thief can remove equipment unnoticed in a matter of minutes.

The Limpet is designed primarily to protect any mains powered piece of equipment. It uses dual sensing technology with one circuit sensing mains power through an antenna wire and the other monitoring vibration and movement. The unit is armed by means of a keypad and emits a powerful 110dB siren when activated. Due to the alarm’s low energy consumption the batteries (3 x AAA batteries supplied) will last 18 months even if left on continuously. The battery compartment is tamper proofed and there is a low battery warning indicator.

In use the Limpet is attached to the equipment by means of a highly adhesive pad. After wrapping the antenna wire around the mains cable the user enters a
6 digit code and presses the ‘Arm’ button. For as long as mains is supplied to the equipment the alarm rests idle. However should the mains supply be disconnected the alarm’s movement sensor will be activated and any attempt to move the equipment will result in the alarm siren being triggered. The siren will sound for 30 seconds and provided the protected item has been put down or is stationery the siren will stop. The Limpet then re-arms and the process is repeated if the equipment is moved again.

Equipment can be used normally whilst the Limpet is switched on. The alarm is disarmed by pressing the ‘Disarm’ key and entering the 6 digit code.

The Limpet will protect non-electrical items where the antenna wire can be coiled around an adjacent mains supply.
